If you've lost your original sim and probably your unique phone number too, MTN offers a way for you to retrieve this without having to get a new number. Of course one knows the value of his personal phone number, how many contacts you are connected to with ti and you would not want to lose your number for any reason whatsoever even if a replacement was given to yu in the form of a new number.
To be able to retrieve your lost MTN sim, all you have to do is a sim swap and in a matter of hours, MTN will help you replace your sim.
So how do you do this?

Well the firststep is to go to http://www.mtnonline.com/index.php/welcomeback.html and fill in your details in the online sim swap form:

1. Title:
2. First Name:
3. Last Name:
4. E-mail Address:
5. Birthday:
6. Alternative number
7. INFORMATION ON OLD LINE (STOLEN / LOST / DAMAGED)
Was your MTN line: Stolen? Lost? Damaged?
8. Enter the phone number of the stolen/lost/damaged line
9. LINE OWNERSHIP VERIFICATION (CUSTOMER MUST ANSWER AT LEAST 2 QUESTIONS CORRECTLY)
How much credit did you load when you last recharged? *
what 3 GSM numbers do you frequently dial? please insert the full phone number e.g 0803000000
10. INFORMATION ON NEW LINE TO BE USED FOR THE SWAP
11. Please provide the number of the new line or Kit Number on the pack of the new Prepaid Welcome Back, that you bought for this Welcome Back/SWAP.
(Phone number of the new line, starting with 0803 0r 0806 or 0703 or 0706 or 0813 or 0816:)


Note that you will need to buy a new mtn sim ard but don't insert it in the phone first until you have done the sim swap.

So, to be able to do a sim swap with MTN, you can choose any of the following methods:

- On the internet at http://www.mtnonline.com/index.php/welcomeback.htm
- At any of MTN Service Centres or Connect Stores nationwide.
- Call MTN Customer Care on the 180

    Just wait 24 hrs or so before inserting the sim. Anyway you would know it has been swapped if the old sim no longer has any MTN signal showing on it. It would have been deregisterd by then and then you can put in the new sim

    Sorry for your loss. The easiest way to block your sim is to get a new one by doing a sim swap online. You may also visit any MTN friendship center close to you and tell them about the theft. They may even be able to track the thieves. But as for your sim, you don't need to worry. No one can steal your sim card as long as you still have your sim certificate or pack or even if you have done the sim registration with MTN. Just do a sim wap to get it back

    You can do sim swap remotely without going to the mtn ofice. Just submit the application online and it will be done in a couple of days

    Mtnsimswap has became diffcult to locate on line, unlike last few month.in the other hand mtn traffic rate is till at apex while other networks are charging #12,#15 and #18 per minute, mtn you should do some about these.
