I said to myself; "it would be nice to be able to do something you love doing everyday, make money from it and even buy a home with it" - but those are just thoughts, yeah, just thoughts.

But wouldn't it be cool to make a sufficient amount of money from just professional blogging, such that it would be enough to do something tangible in your life, such as home purchase? How much would a home cost? How much does one need to buy a house for himself in Nigeria? And would it be possible to do so from just doing an internet business in Nigeria even if it is just blogging?

Getting a good home in Nigeria would cost maybe N20 million, if it is a duplex and if you build it yourself without buying a ready made home. Although one could buy a home with the land in a middle place like Surulere worth N10 - N15 million and that may later require you to renovate it or pull it down to rebuild a new one. If then it would cost N20 - N25 M to get an average home in Lagos, Nigeria and one wants to do this from income generated from internet blogging.

Do Nigerian bloggers then generate enough money, if any at all, from their internet business? Even if they make a little change from it, given the fact that Nigeria did not really take advantage of the internet when it first arrived, with popular search keywords and niches already saturated by foreign blogs in developed countries. Would it be so easy to just make money online from it when one is just starting out?

Even if one makes money from it, would it be enough to be called profit up to the extent of buying at least a car with your earnings? Well, I would not say that Nigerians don't make money online, nor that Nigerian bloggers don't make profit from their blogs, the thing is that, is there any popular blog in Nigeria for now? When I say popular, I mean a blog that could be considered to be at par with blogs like labnol.org, problogger.net, johnchow.com or shoemoney.com, such that it has a global appeal. Do we have professional bloggers in Nigeria? - I mean bloggers who make enough money online to live off only from their blog? Perhaps, not yet. since it is still growing

Is there any such Nigerian blog that is globally recognised? Well, not yet and it appears that we are still waiting for that day when there will be a rising of that prime blog and before that happens, it may very well be hard to see a blogger who buys a home with income coming from just his blog earnings.

But talking about possibility - Is it possible? Well, I have to agree that it is. When one sees that there are already living examples of global professional bloggers who make a living from their blog and I'm not just talking about petty income, I mean serious income like $10,000 a month from internet business alone. It would be a smart thing to invest a huge part of that money in real estate to help you in times of financial drought.

Blogging can be exciting, professional blogging can be even more challenging since doing it routinely can take the fun out of it.

So the bottom line is if one wants to invest in real estate from professional blogging, then there should be a huge improvement in your blogging income such that it would be huge enough to be called "tangible".

How to increase your income from blogging:

1.Get you own unique domain
2. Use Pay per click ads
3. Post everyday
4. Engage your visitors and feed their needs
5. Improve monetisation of your site if you've not done that already
6. Understand the variables that make you money and multiply them
