My mobile phone shows no GPRS network. What really is the rationale behind this. GPRS services are supposed to be a 24 hour service provided by one's network non-stop and if for any reason it becomes unvailable, then the network deserves to do some explanation on its own part and users have a right to suse them to court. At least that is what I think.
I am in Surulere right now and not in any remote village or desert and I can't do any urgent mobile browsing due to the fact that there is no GPRS service available. My G is cancelled out and I can't do any browsing on my mobile. It is not just MTN, but I have tried my other sims for Etisalat and Glo, but no way. Isn't this suposed to be a service infraction? I tried browsing with it but it responds "Connection not available"
I was once on MTN's monthly service and it was not a satisfying experience due to many down days and unreliable internet connection and I stopped it. I have tried the daily plan for N500 but on many days, I did nothing with it.
This is the same for other networks I have tried like Etisalat and Glo and yet they are quick to take your money if you are prepaying for it but once you enter into their service, you get dissappointed.
I think the proper thing for MTN and all these other networks need to do is to at least apologise to her numerous customers about the poor service and at least tell people when it will become available. I think not just those on the prepaid programme but equally those on the pay as you go service need to be compensated by the GSM networks for their inconsistent GPRS service and may have a right to sue for such deficiences by their GPRS providers.
