Recharge card printing and sales is actually a big business. Not too big but big enough to help you make millions. The good thing about it is that small time investors can equally get into the business with even a little capital, say NGN10,000.

Here is what recharge card voucher printing involves:
- Having an inventory or recharge voucher pins
- Having the printing software or printing box
- Creating a network with retailers and end users
- Making a profit by setting your price

To start the recharge card printing business, you need to first of all decide how much you are willing to invest in it, how much do you really have to start, then find a source(dealer) or various sources, know their prices and make a purchase.

Finding a dealer
You may not necessarily need a dealer if you can get that directly from the telecoms company themselves. The first thing you need to do is make a visit to the networks you are willing to start doing business with, meet with their custoemr service and ask them if you can be a dealer and what the requirments are. If there still accept dealers, they would give you the details else they would direct you to their approved dealers which may have an office closest to them around there. Most major telecoms companies like MTN, Zain and Glo seem to have closed their doors to new dealers so you may still inquire from them where their approved dealers are in order to be a sub dealer through them.
So all you have to do in finding a recharge card dealer is simply by making inquiries

Comparing prices of various dealers
Now, you must have visited the offices or gotten the contacts of your recharge cards dealers and the next thing you might want to do is know their prices for the pins. Compare each of these prices and know how to go about it. Don't just make a choice based on low price but also consider their credibility, customer reviews and time period for delivery.

Getting your inventory from the dealers
Once you have chosen your supply source, what you ought to do next is know how to make payment and how to receive your pins, vouchers or cards. Some dealers accept payment only by bank deposits or cheques and so you would need to keep a record of their account numbers and banks. Some may also accept cash payments especially for small orders of say NGN20,000. When you are told to make payment you should also request from them when and how you will get the product you have paid for. Know their mode of operation and make sure you get a receipt or teller for any payment you make. Some dealers may deliver you the recharge cards pins via your registered email address, a CD Rom, or just as physical paper or card. Some others would equally give you an Orange box with which you will be able to print the pins on demand

Creating a network with Retailers and end users
If you are planning to sell your recharge vouchers/cards fast, you will need to sell it at a good bargain to retailers who mostly buy in bulk. You may sell it in tens or hundreds and give them a good price in order to attract and retain their loyalty. You need to reach out it to more retailers and if you wish, you may also set up a store or website through which you can sell to Nigerian end users.

Making a profit by setting your price
The recharge card printing business is meant to be profitable to you if you run it as a serious business. Don't spend more than you earn. For instance, if you buy recharge pins at N1400 from the dealers, then you should not sell it below that to retailers while also considering your ordering and holding cost for the inventory. You need to set the price that would be competitive and at the same time sensible. Try to buy the vouchers when it is not in hot demand like during festivities and holidays since prices from dealers tend to fluctuate. If possible, invest more finance in buying vouchers that will last for a loner period and know when to make your next order.
If you buy at N1430, then you can sell at N1450 to dealers and for 1000 units, you could be making a profit of 20*1000=N20,000 but the bottomline is how much you would be able to buy with limited funds.

Conclusion
If you are already into this kind of business, you would have mastered it by now, knowing how to cut down your costs in order to increase profit. If you are thinking about starting up, I would advise you to start with smaller funds without risking your initial funds. This will help you to learn the business without wasting you capital. Recharge card business is real and brings a steady turnover.
