If you are good at writing, you could easily make money online from wherever you live as long as you are connected to the Internet.
In Nigeria, article writing is becoming one of the easiest ways of making money online and all it requires is for you to be able to write. There are a lot of platforms, websites and clients who will publish your work and are willing to pay you for your efforts in hard currency such as the US dollars.

What is Article writing?
Articles are words that have been used in describing or informing readers about a subject of interest. For instance, if you were asked to write an article about Snail farming, you can start like this:

"Topic: Snail farming: Benefits and usefulness to the society
Snails are a good source of protein and they are low in calories. They belong to the family of shell animals called molluscs. In case you don't know what a snail is like, you can go to swampy places or close to a stream or just Google it and you will see small shells that have slow moving living creatures inside them...."

An article is like an essay and the more you write, the better pay you will get. Some websites or clients pay per word while others pay you for how muhc traffic you bring on a PPC or CPM basis. A good article should have at least 200 words although it could be as low as 100. I have seen god articles that are as much as 1000 words but who reads all that except for search engines.

What I am doing now is writing an article on "How Article Awriters make money online in Nigeria" and it can be really easy for you if you at least have a good use of grammar and can construct good English.

There is already a growing crop of Nigerians who make good use of the internet to make money by involving themselves with the article writing business. You could check out sites like Articlebase.com, Hubpages.com, helium.com. Those are great article sites that allow you to write, publish and share in the revenue that comes from online advertisers. Writing articles can bring in money for your monthly for which you can cash out in domiciliary accounts in Nigeria or by means of an international credit card like Payoneer.

What do I need to start?
Well you would need the following things:
- Ability to write in good English
- A website or platform
- A domiciliary account or International credit card

How to get started?
- Sign up with a publishing site like Hubpages or get your own blog
- Write greate articles that have at least 300 - 500 words
- Write about 20 articles
- Sign up with a ppc or cpm network like Google adsense, bidvertiser or Chitika
- Use the advert codes on your site and you start earning money
- You may also sell your articles directly for cash on freelance sites like guru.com. getfreelancer.com and others who pay directly for your work by giving you a project to write on

when you mean an international credit card are -dollar/euro denominated debit cards - included?
20 articles?! that's a lot to me, are these sites worth it?! do they pay enough ,commensurate to the labour , to motivate one to want to write? pay enough here should be like say $200 and up (month).

I have tried article writing and it really pays. If you are trying to make money from it, you can do so by:
- Writing for yourself
- Writing for others.

Best form of article writing I do is for product reviews on popular sites and make money from my affiliate links. If you can write about stuff like Nokia phones, Apple Ipad or even Weight loss diets, you can get a lot of commissions from it. It is not just the quantity of articles that you have written but also the quality and its niche.

20 articles is chicken feed really so guys like Kambo shouldn't be complaining at the number. I guess he said 20 articles as just a minimum for getting signed up with Google adsense. You may really need more if you are trying to break into a competitive niche like "making money online" or "web hosting".
From my experience, if you want to make $100 a month from your articles, then you should have like 100 published and relevant articles with at least 300 words each.
I think, to be an established online writer, you may need to have at least 3000 articles just to say you are doing it professionally

There is a new website in town that allows you to make money as soon as you write and submit articles for clients. Checkout iwriter.com. They pay with Paypal and you can make money with them instantly without Google adsense or having your own website. Nigerians are accepted but you just need a working Paypal account to get paid.
