Static web pages are pages that remain unchanged for a long period of time. Dynamic web pages unlike the static ones are those ones that have constantly changing content and this is probably one of the reasons why copycats find it easy to copy content from such sites and still get away with it on search engines.

For a long time, it's a commonly held believe that search engines like Google tend to rank static web pages much higher than dynamioc web pages and one of the reasons was because in the past most search engines found it easier to read and index static pages. However, things seems to have changed nowadays as they can also read and index dynamic websites.

However, one thing I know about dynamic websites is that they tend to have a lot of constantly changing content especially for web pages that get updated a lot with new content.

For bloggers who normally post unique content on a frequent basis, one of the things that can give them a nightmare is when other publishers plagiarize their work and republish it as theirs and I've seen cases where even search engines end up ranking copycat pages much higher than the original pages and hence causes the first people to suffer a loss of traffic for many months before they correct their mistake.

One of the things I've also noted about search engines is that they don't like copied work and would tend to use an algorithm to determine which web page is more original and then penalize the other which is seen as a copycat. However, they've don't this wrongly on many occasions and the innocent and hardworking web publishers end up suffering for what someone else did.

What does a website owner do in order to protect his web content from plagiarism? Well one thing I believe one can do is to submit his website feed and sitemap to search engines so that their content gets indexed first before others such that when similar content is scanned by bots on other sites, they would automatically be rejected.

The first example can be a good way to protect your work from copycats but it may not be efficient if your content doesn't get indexed first.

A second way I think one can protect his web content is by ensuring that the web page has a static content for a long period of time so that copycats would not even get indexed and ranked by Google.

This is one of the issues that dynamic pages normally come with. If a website constantly generates original content and yet keeps changing the content either at the top or the bottom, search engines may be a bit confused as to whether the page is actually an original. Things like the date the web page was created and an archived version are what search engines consider when ranking original content and if one's web page is constantly changing in content, then it may lose traffic to search engines in favour of fake or copied content.

So, I think the best way to prevent search engines from thinking your content is not original is just to simply ensure that they get to index a static version of your site even if you are using a dynamic web platform. Some dynamic web pages tend to offer s stripped down version of a site to search engines and these basically contain unique content that is unlike to change in the long term. Search engines like static content a lot and ranks them high in the long term unlike if it was constantly changing.
