If you think one can't make millions from doing Online Affiliate marketing in Nigeria then it's time to have a rethink.

Konga recently revealed and rewarded her first Affiliate millionaire and his name is Pascal Okafor of Naijatechguide.com

Pascal has been named the Konga Affiliate of the year after making the most sales that earned him at least N1m within just 9 months of joining the program. He has also been given a reward of a N50,000 Konga shopping voucher. I guess that would be enough to buy a new laptop or tablet from the online store.

I remember that during one of my recent blog posts on top tech blogs in Nigeria, I mentioned Naijatechguide.com as number 1 among them and somehow, it's proven to be true because this guy really knows how to make money online through tech blogging.

Nigerian bloggers have started making more money online and we've seen the likes of female bloggers like Linda Ikeji in the entertainment industry earning money from direct advertisers. We are also seeing success stories in the tech blogging industry likes of Okafor earning income from affiliate marketing. We've also seen that while women tend to dominate the entertainment niche, it is the men that dominate in the technology blogging niche.

I had been following quite a large number of tech bloggers in Nigeria and from the list I gathered, I noticed that NaijaTechGuide really seemed to be the most dedicated in providing relevant content. Pascal is not just you average everyday blogger who blogs about his thoughts but his niche is more about reviewing tech products like mobile phones, computers and home or office electronics. He mostly does an objective review of many products that are available in both the Nigerian market and abroad. I don't think there is any other tech blogger in Nigeria that has reviewed as much tech products as Pascal Okafor has done.

About a year ago, I noticed that Pascal Okafor's main blog at Naijatechguide.com was mostly monetized by Google Adsense and later on AdDynamo but recently, about a year ago, it seems he's been monetizing seriously with online shopping affiliate programs from both Konga and Jumia. Finally, it seems Konga has been the most rewarding as they just recently named his as their best affiliate so far who is the first to earn a million Naira.

What would you do with a million Naira? Well, it can do quite a lot of things such as buying a brand new car or going on vacation.

What does it take to earn N1m from a local online affiliate program in Nigeria? Well, you'd probably need to refer sales worth more than 10 times your income. In the case of Naijatechguide.com, a blog mostly related to tech products and given that shopping sites like Konga pay about 3% per sale as commission, it probably means that Pascal must have sold at least N33,333,333 of items for Konga. You'd notice this runs into tens of millions in sales given the niche he is in.

How did Pascal earn such a commission within a period of just about 9 months? Well, he focused a lot of reviewing tech products and most of his blog posts were really SEO friendly given that it was rich in content and hence ranked high in search engines. It's simple - Review more tech gadgets and earn more income. At times it also pays to be the first in doing reviews and it also pays in working to get some search engine love for the long term.

Naijatechguide and Pascal have been in the blogging business for quite a while, probably over 5 years and he's probably made much more money from other networks besides Konga and this is just a tip of the ice berg. If the competition doesn't heat up among local bloggers in Nigeria, Pascal might easily dominate the entire tech blogging industry within a few more years and even earn more from local online Shopping Affiliate platforms like Konga and Jumia.

Another thing that one might be considering is if Wordpress blogs are still relevant. Given this success story and as one takes a look at the blogging industry in Nigeria, it seems that bloggers using the Google Blogger platform tend to make more money than those who make use of Wordpress. Does it mean that it pays more to stick with Blogger than Wordpress or other platforms? Well, maybe that's another topic for another day.

Pascal has show that it's quite possible to make money online using local affiliate programs in Nigeria and even get paid in Naira. Konga's affiliate program is one of such platforms and they normally make payments monthly to their affiliate's bank account after they've earned at least N10,000 per month.

If you have a blog, you can make money by Signing up for Konga's affiliate program.
