Why has MTN VTU stopped their airtime discount?

Initially when I used to load N10,000 worth of airtime on my phone using MTN VTU on the ATM machines, I used to get a bonus of 3000 i.e. 30% but now even after loading N12,000, I no longer get any discounts. Why is this so. Is there no longer any discount using the ATM machine to load airtime? What then is the benefit of MTN VTU or ATMs over the scratch cards?
