I am looking forward to acquiring a Land and build a small house somewhere in Lagos state but I would like to know what I really need before starting the project.

You will need to be a tax paying citizen to get land. I think 3 years tax record(Gives you TCC) and then getting a land depends on the location. Somewhere like in Surulere could cost N8 - N15 million. You may also buy an old bungalow or one storey building there for around N15 - N20 million too. Getting land in newer developing places like Ikorodu to could cost N200,000 to N800,000. I heard that inside the estate, you could get a fenced land for N500,000. Once you have your land, foundation may cost N1 million and building a one storey building could cost you N15m including the foundation excluding furnishing. Roofing is not too expensive and can cost N200,000 to N300,000. Installing a Borehole is very important if you want to avoid cholera and other water diseases and in Lagos and the deeper you go, the better the water that you would get. For around N120,000 to N150,000, you can get a good borehole using a 12*20ft pipe to get a total depth of 240ft is good enough.
