"I received a threatening email from Intercontinental Bank this morning. I'm still kind of shaken and I can't figure out if they are threatening a "Spiritual" or "Physical" attack. Why would a "healthy" bank threaten a "lowly" blogger for doing a public service? After all, the CBN is conducting a "Special Examination" of the bank. Well, if anything happens to me, I guess my wife and kids will know who to hold responsible. I plan to take this threat seriously. I won't be bullied. I remain an intrepid newshound.

Here's the text of the email from Intercontinental Bank's Corporate Affairs Departmemt

What exactly do you hope to achieve by doing this? IF YOU DO NOT STOP THIS BLASPHEMY, those of us who are here and who eat from here will put you in the "centre'' of a FIRE which you will not be able to withstand.

Stop this nonsense in your own interest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have been warned.

I wonder how true this is and i read about it to later find out that the blogger, Dayo Coker has a blog at dayocoker.wordpress.com and in that blog, he made sensitive statements about the bank saying that it was on it's way to collapse in the midst of the global recession. Really, i support freedom of speech, but one' man' freedom must end where another's begins. That write-up by Dayo Coker should have been left for the authorities to decide. A bank is the lifewire of the society and we should be careful about statements that we make, even if it were true, what would be the outcome if such blog posts were publicised? It would do greater harm than good to the Nigerian society. Dayo may have had the right to blog freely but this one is too sensitive and if he actually recieved a threat or somewhat, i guess he must have been expecting it.

Guy should go for deliverance so that the forces of evil may not prevail against him.
