I was wondering about this issue for some time now and it just popped into my head. The sms i recieved from Intercontinental bank about the rumours going around concerning its financial strength, IB told customers that a first generation bank was involved and i was thinking, perhaps they were trying to tell us to read between the lines, that a FIRST generation BANK was involved in the rumour. I've also heard from friends and other places who were also thinking along the same line. Was First bank of Nigeria actually involved in de-marketing IB? If they were, then that would be going too low, but if IB is not really as financially sound as expected, then perhaps they were doing the shareholders and customers a favour.

I believe that whichever bank that was involved was doing the general public a favour. The bank has turned out to be in serious debt.
