To make money in Nigeria, you would need to have an idea about the custom and tradition of the people. You need to know what goes and what does not, in different places and different states and places.
The Nigeria factor comes to play when it comes to making money here and you have to determine how to cope with this in order to succeed in breaking even
What sells and what does not? While coffee or hot drinks may sell in the United states, cold drinks or ice may sell in Nigeria. While T-shirts and branded face caps may sell in Washington, brooms made from palm trees would sell in Lagos.
You can money in Nigeria by having any of the two things to offer, a product or a service, the more unique your item is the lesser competition you would have. Presently, what is selling in Nigeria is Telecoms and newer technologies. More and more people are embracing the need to communicate and would not mind the feed to be paid. Also literacy about computers and the internet is what people would want to have, if you can provide this, then you can make some money.

One way i would suggest you make money in Nigeria is by becoming your own boss. Own a business! Don't be an employee no matter how much you are being paid, it will only make you more lazy and undermine you capabilities. When you run your own business, you would know your true worth and you would be able to easily learn your weaknesses and strength. Own you business and if possible register as a company. Nigeria is a growing country and does not have enough jobs for graduates, if you keep on being a job seeker without seeing the huge amount of profits to be reaped by being and entrepreneur, you would be missing something. A sole entrepreneur has a greater opportunity to make money in Nigeria than in any developed country since there are not too many restrictive laws, less taxes, only challenges to be won.
It is much easier to be an entrepreneur in Nigeria than in the U.K. so why don't we take the chance now while we can than later when competition becomes stiffer.
Although there are many problems facing may start-up businesses in Nigeria ranging from finance, facilities and so on, but the profits you would be making far outweigh all these, the sooner you realize that the better. Start small, no matter how much capital or resources you have as it will even enable you to learn from your mistakes and grow from there. Starting big in something you've never done before would give you a bigger loss if you did not succeed, but let's think SUCCESS here, POSITIVE thinking wins!
If you are thinking offline business, then you could venture into the provision of bottled water, restaurant/bar, cybercafe, boutique, publishing, transportation, agriculture, phone services and so on.
Of all these, considering the recession, i would go suggest you go into agriculture cos food prices are rising and buying a land now and operating on it now would be cheaper than later. The recession is spreading across the world and I wouldn't say that we've had the worst of it, it seems to be having a slight effect on Nigeria for now but it would surely come hugely later. Another way to make money in Nigeria and hedge against the effects of rising costs is to invest in the dollar. It appears that the price against the naira is headed for N200, you can profit from this by investing in a dollar denominated domicilliary account, make dollars online by becoming a blogger + adsense publisher, online forex trading, exporting or become a tourist agent.
There are many ways to make money from Nigeria but you need to know what to and what not to do at the right times
