Gone are the times when genuine Nigerians were looking for an acceptable means of online payment due to the scarcity of credit cards. Nowadays however, the story is different - You can get your very own Visa card in Nigeria and even a cashed backed credit card at that.

Getting a Valid Visa card is no longer a big problem for any Nigerian who really wants to, all you need is the cash and within 24hrs, a prepaid, ready to use card wil lbe issued to you.
There are basically 2 brands of credit cards available in Nigeria namely Visa and Mastercard and you can get both them from Nigerian banks.
I have personally collected both a mastercard and Visa from Intercontinental bank of Nigeria. The last one I collected was a Visa card and it cost about $25 to get the card and you would have to load at least $100 on it totalling around $125. So with $125 in your hand and a valid passport or National Id, you can apply for a Visa card from any Intercontinental bank in Nigeria. It generally comes with a 2 year validity period and you can reload funds by depositing into an account that would be given to you for the visa account. Visa credit cards are more popular and mostly accepted by internet merchants especially if you are paying for services, subscriptions.

How to shop online with your Visa credit card:
Once you get a Visa credit card, you can use it to shop online at various websites. All you need to do when shopping online is to use your registered name and address in Nigeria which you used in the first place to open the account.

Checking your balance on the Visa card:
The good thing about using this Visa card that comes from Intercontinental bank is that you can keep a check on yoru credit card balance by calling the customer care number listed on your card and making the enquiry. It is also good to keep a record of all payments you made with your Visa cad so as to reconcile your balances with the bank if any problem arises.

Safety:
Another good thing about this Visa card is that it carries a limit and so would not let fraudsters steal all your money since it is not tied to any bank account such as the card mostly used in the US. It is a prepaid card and has a limit. The lowest one is the one I mentioned carrying a value of $100. There are other variants of SAY $200, $400 and so on but they all have various spending limits especially for every 24 hrs. So it's pretty safe.
