Do you use Yahoo messenger a lot and send a lot of instant messages? Then you should also know how to make voice calls to computers or phones of your contacts. If you have not been using Yahoo messenger for instant chats, then you have been missing something.
Yahoo messenger is an instant messaging software by Yahoo which allows you to chat with your friends and family when you are online. You can send text messages using it, voice and video calls also.
To start using voice calls with Yahoo messenger, there are two ways you can do it

1. Call the person's computer
2. Call the mobile phone

If you are calling a person's computer, that person should also have a Yahoo messenger or other acceptable instant messaging software that allows online chats. The version of Yahoo messenger I would advise that you get is Yahoo Messenger 9.0 which you can get here.

When you have downloaded Yahoo messenger, then you can run the program and after installation, start up the program and log in with your yahoo id and password.
Making the call to computer:
Click on Actions > Call computer
Select the contact you want to call(that person must be online) and then click ok to call
- The call rings , you should have a headset with a microphone attached to it for doing such voice calls on messenger
- If the person sees your call, he will be able to pick up and start talking with you.

Calling the mobile phone:
Yahoo messenger also allows you to call the mobile phone of your contact or any other person you have the phone number.
To do this, what you need to do is to click on Actions > Call a phone number
Enter the phone number in the space provided and call. If you are calling an international number like calling Nigeria from the USA, you will need to include the country code first and then the number. For ex. if it's a GSM number with 080 3** 88888 then the number you will have to enter is 234803**88888

To make Yahoo messenger calls to a phone number, you will need to have purchased credit from Yahoo to be able to make calls but for calls made from computer to computer, all you need is the internet service which should be fast like broadband or Vsat.
