Is it possible to power an air conditioning unit with solar energy? Would want to know how cost effective it would be.

Zip code is the same as postal code. You can check the Nipost website or their office to know your zip code

Yes it is possible. It would first of all depend on how much power the air conditioner needs and then providing a solar power system that can provide that power and a little bit more. You should look at the back of the air conditioner and look for the maximum power input before deciding on how many watts of solar panels you need

An air conditioner uses a compressor and there is normally a maximum power requirement printed on it that shows how muhc power it needs to operate during it's peak period although it may normally operate at 600 Watts on normal level. You need about 12000 to 1500 Watts Solar panel, two or three 200 Ah 12 volt batteries, a 100 Amp solar charger and a power inverter (1.2 to 1.5KVA).
